Raptor 0.5: A Small Agent Model for the Macs Everyone Actually Owns
Introducing an open 8B-A1B model tuned for real automation and business work — 6.3 GB on disk, built to run comfortably on 8–16 GB Macs.
Today we're releasing Raptor 0.5: an open mixture-of-experts agent model — 7.9 billion parameters, about 1 billion active per token — fine-tuned on the Osaurus tool surface. It reads your folders and spreadsheets, checks documents against data, drafts the follow-up, and runs the steps in between, all on-device. At 6.3 GB it stays resident on an 8 GB Mac.
It's the first release of Raptor, the smallest tier of a family of models sized for different Macs — Raptor 1, trained much deeper on Osaurus for longer and heavier agentic work, comes next.
The full model page includes training and quantization details, the released training corpus, demo recordings, usage notes, downloads, and citation information.
